I enjoy very much my volunteer work for the translation of the Open Science Training Handbook (OSTH) in Greek!
Open science is the movement to make scientific research, data and dissemination accessible to all levels of an inquiring society (definition of Open Science taxonomy @ Foster site). Open Science is frequently defined as an umbrella term that involves various movements aiming to remove the barriers for sharing any kind of output, resources, methods or tools, at any stage of the research process. The following picture gives an overview of the term:
OSTH offers guidance and resources for Open Science instructors and trainers, as well as anyone interested in improving levels of transparency and participation in research practices.
I am responsible for the translation in Greek of Chapter 3: “On Learning and Training“. It is very helpful for me because it presents an overview of training techniques as well as practical tips for designing a course. I always enjoy reviewing different teaching approaches and refreshing my knowledge in educational methods and practices.
The first part of our translation work will be finished by the end of October 2018. I will let you know when Open-Science-TrainingHandbook_EL is ready…
